Sebastopol Walks — Southern Sebastopol Reach of the Laguna, Sept. 28, 2013

Valley Oak

Valley Oak

Southern Sebastopol reach of the Laguna.

Saturday, September 28, 9 am
5 to 6 miles, moderate to brisk pace.
Sorry, NO DOGS this time.
We depart from the Plaza at 9 and walk Highway 116 to Cooper Rd. where we access a big area of public land and walk into a beautiful stand of Valley Oaks. We’ll see some restoration efforts, walk by the eucalyptus forest – home to deer, poison oak and other critters – and walk by the main Laguna de Santa Rosa channel. Last stop finds us at Laguna Farms for a short discussion by farm founder Scott Mathieson on the relation between organic farming and the neighboring natural waterway.
Return to the Plaza by noon.
Bring water, a hat and snacks. You must wear sturdy walking shoes to navigate rough terrain.
Leader:  Richard Nichols
