Walk Report — A Laguna Out & Back

Walk Leader Sarah Gurney reports:

“Morning fog gave way to sunshine as we entered the City’s Laguna Preserve on July 28, a quick ten minutes away from The Plaza.  About 35 walkers crossed the seasonal bridge and headed out to the new, yet-to-be-opened trail winding north to the turn-around spot at Occidental Road.  We walked alongside vineyards and mowed fields, taking in the panoramic view.  We spotted great blue herons, red-tailed hawks, kites, and Canadian geese.  After a short rest at Kelly Pond, we headed back, scouting out the access point on Highway 12 and the less-known, northerly entrance to the Preserve next to the Youth Annex.  It was pretty warm when we finished 5.59 miles at 11:50 AM.  Thank you to all who joined Sarah on this walk.”
