Walk Report — The Next-to-Last Dinner Walk, May 31, 2012
Forty-one diners enjoyed a leisurely 3-mile walk through town on a warm, breezy evening, interrupted by appetizers, entrees, and dessert. Leaving from The Plaza, we took a short jaunt to the outdoor patio at the Ceres Community Project, where we enjoyed an arugula salad, tossed with beets and pear tomatoes, and a mushroom strudel, accompanied by champagne. Our entree course was a bit longer walk, to the elegant, indoor dining room at The French Garden. Then we trekked all the way back past The Plaza to the Smokehouse BBQ and Bistro for strawberry shortcake and brownies. Seated in the garden, at picnic tables around the fountain, we watched the twilight darken. The conversation was lively, for 3 miles, 3 courses, and about 3 hours.
