Walking the CORE

The CORE Project of Sebastopol launched an international design competition that culminated in an evening awards ceremony on February 11, 2012. The goal of the competition was to generate innovative ideas to revitalize the downtown area, addressing traffic, commerce, and the connection between built and natural landscapes.  Thirty entrants responded to the challenge and more than 200 people attended the reception to view their submissions.
Prior to judging the event, the five-member volunteer panel and the Committee members toured the contest area on foot, guided by Council Member Sarah Gurney.

  1. How does one see the proposed plans?

    • The plans are currently on display at various downtown Sebastopol businesses. The Core Project website unfortunately does not list the locations, but they are all within the three block stretch of Main Street between McKinley and the post office. The winners are listed on the website.
